How to Practice Mindfulness in 2021

Mindfulness is beyond underrated and definitely underappreciated.

It’s defined as “a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.”

Sounds like bliss, right? Mindfulness has become a place of refuge for many especially after the start of the pandemic. It allows for a better understanding and room for connecting with yourself. Not only that, but it’s deep reflecting on how the world around you influences you.

But how do you practice mindfulness?

Think of it as a series of meditations. You find a relaxing, comfortable place to sit and remove yourself of distractions like mobile devices. Next, you close your eyes and start inhaling and exhaling slowly, repeatedly.

Your mind begins to wander and maybe even argue with itself, jumping between trivial things like household chores and bigger things like imposter syndrome.

You realize where your thoughts are wandering and then you either talk it out or calm the storm with affirmations.

This is just an example of how it typically goes: You’re intentionally zoning into your thoughts and taking control. And guess what! You don’t need tools to practice mindfulness, but want to know something else?

Not everyone knows where to start. Not everyone has the same experience in mindfulness and some of us need the training wheels with a little push.

We’ve taken the liberty of ranking three of our own tools based on their benefit on the path of mindfulness. Take a gander and you’ll find something that can aid you on your journey in mindfulness!

#3 | Vision Board Planner

Mindfulness itself is a therapeutic practice. Creating vision boards is therapeutic as well in the sense that it encourages focus on goals and aspirations. It requires as much meditation as mindfulness itself and can instill inspiration in your practice.

#2 | Self Care Planner

Shocked that this isn’t #1? Think of the Self Care Planner as a tool to eliminate or alleviate distractions and thoughts through acts of self care, but our pick for #1 is on the target for mindfulness.

#1 | Gratitude Journal

This journal is somewhat guided and encourages you to think and meditate on the things in life worth acknowledging. By meditating on gratitude, you’re likely to experience emotional lightness and alleviation of stress. Not only that but by using the prompts in this journal to express and log your gratitude, you’re also equipping yourself with the ability to push back on negative thoughts that come your way when practicing mindfulness.

This is only the beginning. Lovet Planners is all about providing the tools to help you feel fabulous on the full spectrum of your life, and while those three tools are fantastic and we LOVET, we’re just skimming the surface.
